Grace Yu

Advisor

Grace Yu is a filmmaker and photographer. She graduated valedictorian and summa cum laude from the Maxwell School of Citizenship & Public Affairs, Syracuse University with a B.A in Political Science and History. As a Rhodes Scholar, she studied at Trinity College, Oxford University and holds two Masters of Studies in Theology and the Study of Religion.

As Special Assistant for Intergovernmental Affairs during the Clinton Administration, she served as the White House liaison to state and local governments for both domestic and foreign affairs. She was policy advisor to NY gubernatorial candidate Andrew Cuomo and campaign liaison to AAPI communities.

Soon after, Ms. Yu was granted a visiting fellowship at the Matsushita Institute to research war remembrance and reparation issues involving Japan, China, and the Koreas. Her writings have been published in academic journals in Tokyo and Seoul. Currently, Ms. Yu is a Soros Fellow and on leave from the Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
